Mortgage Operations Lead

This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working from home.

 

Role Purpose:

The main purpose of this role is to support the Operations Manager in delivering key initiatives within the Mortgages department. This includes aiding in the effective delivery of the business strategy, managing external partners, and business risks to ensure operational efficiency is maintained. This role will work closely with Change, Customer Experience, QA and BA teams, assisting in the delivery of new products, process enhancements and improvements in service.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by designing and implementing effective policies, processes, and best practices aligned with regulatory standards and company objectives.
  • Support Mortgage Operational teams (including Change, Customer Experience, QA and BA) by providing expertise and additional resources to deliver key projects.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements within Mortgage Operations, focusing on risk mitigations, business growth, and streamlined workflows.
  • Strengthen document control management, ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and security of all mortgage related documentation.
  • Maintain an Operational Resilience framework, ensuring regular testing and documentation of outcomes and key learnings.
  • Manage and update the Mortgages risk register, reviewing incidents, documenting resolutions and implementing preventative measures.
  • Maintain the Mortgages Model risk management framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and performance reviews of third-party suppliers, outsourcers, and of the professional panel.
  • Lead the annual review of Credit Intermediaries, providing detailed feedback and recommending improvements to enhance performance and compliance.
  • Assist Mortgage Project Managers in overseeing and executing mortgage related projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across various divisions within the bank to achieve business and operational objectives.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by management, ensuring timely delivery and effective execution.
  • Adhere to internal policy and regulatory requirements – FCA, PRA, AML, Prevention of Financial Crime, Data Protection etc.

 

Skills and Experience sought:

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Experience in Control Management, and/or risk experience.
  • Experience in working in a high output/fast paced environment
