Senior Cyber Security Analyst | IT

This is a fully remote working role.

Role Purpose: 

Reporting directly to and undertaking tasks as assigned by the Head of Information Security (“HIS”) the role will require a hands on approach to assist with defending the Bank’s IT systems and staff from cyber-attack. You will own and respond to incidents, ensuring incidents are being handled quickly, accurately and clearly. You will be working closely with the Bank’s IT team in an established security function liaising with a SOC team. This position is ideally suited for someone looking to advance their career in Information Security.

The position will allow you to develop existing skills and gain additional experience with team resource management.

The The day to day work of this role is varied; you will be responding to the challenges of a financial organisation operating in a high risk digital environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and management of our cyber security tooling, systems and processes
  • Responding to alerts, events and managing incidents, escalations from our SOC team
  • Managing vulnerabilities, operating our vulnerability scanners and working with teams to resolve or mitigate risks
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the Information Security Team
  • Documenting processes that you will mature and improve with the HIS
  • Ensuring our controls are appropriate to the risks and threats the bank face, ensuring compliance with our standards such as, Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR, PCI-DSS and various NIST and NCSC guidance
  • Assisting the HIS with internal and external audits
  • Assisting the HIS with project work and annual penetration tests
  • Any other duties assigned by the HIS

 

Skills and Experience sought:

  • Working knowledge of cyber tools such as SIEM, advance malware
  • Experience with financial services industry and technologies, as well as understanding the impact of cyber-crime in this sector
  • Experience in IT administration of both Windows and Linux systems
  • Hands on experience of scripting and programming languages (Bash, Python, Perl, C#)
  • Working experience of SMTP and email security
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience as a network or systems administrator
  • Excellent MS Office skills. MS Visio desirable
  • Previous exposure to Wireshark, tcpdump
  • Previous exposure to SMTP headers
  • Qualified in or can demonstrate working knowledge of computer networking
  • Good knowledge and understanding of information security risk concepts and principles
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards, including Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, cloud security and the
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
