IT Infrastructure Engineer

This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working from home.

 

Role Purpose: 

Technical support of the Bank’s IT infrastructure

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Technical support of the Bank’s IT infrastructure hardware, software and operating systems including, but not limited to Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and Exchange On-prem, Azure, DevOps, AWS, VMware, HP Host Servers & SANs, Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches
  • Capacity planning and system resource management
  • Support of the corporate wide area network and telecoms environment (system, fixed lines, mobiles)
  • Support of the Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity environment/processes including backups, replication, DR testing
  • Manages and optimises end to end Azure Platform including release automation (CI/CD/Bicep), network design, firewalls, policy management, disaster recovery and failover strategy
  • Develop monitoring and alerts for errors and performance using Azure Monitor
  • Ensure and promote compliance with Azure infrastructure best practice
  • Support of IT infrastructure projects
  • Providing 3rd line Infrastructure support
  • Development and maintenance of system documentation and enhance infrastructure automation
  • Working within the constraints of the Change Management process

 

Skills and Competencies sought: 

  • VMWare and virtualised technologies
  • Azure, DevOps, CI/CD (Bicep) support and management
  • Server management Windows server OS 2016, 2019, 2022, including Exchange on-prem
  • Microsoft 365, Intune, Exchange Online
  • HP host and SAN technologies
  • Network management skills Cisco
  • LAN management DNS, DHCP, DFS etc
  • Firewall Management Palo Alto, Cisco
  • Telecomms – circuits and associated infrastructure
  • On premise and hosted telephone systems/SIP protocols, recording etc
  • Technical knowledge to enable collaboration with Infrastructure service providers
  • Technical knowledge and willingness to provide desktop support
  • Experience of working in an ITIL framework driven environment

 

Technical Knowledge & Experience sought:

  • Proven experience gained in an IT infrastructure Engineer role, ideally from a blue chip background
  • Degree (or equivalent) qualifications
  • Microsoft 365, Intune, Exchange online / On-Prem (2016 / 2019)
  • Azure / DevOps technologies – CI/CD-Azure ARM Templates/Bicep/PowerShell, Azure Monitor, Azure Front Door, Azure Network Design/Hub & Spoke, Azure Graph API, Azure Key Vault, Azure Bastion, Azure Virtual Network, Azure Private Link, Azure Load Balancer, Azure VM, Azure Security Center & ExpressRoute
  • VMWare
  • Palo Alto and Cisco
  • Microsoft server 2016, 2019, 2022
  • HP Server and MSA SAN
