Role Purpose: 

 To assist the Team Manager in the allocation of work, motivation and monitoring of the Team, processing first and second charge lending products to completion.

Responsibilities:  

• Make lending decisions in line with Credit Risk Policy and individual mandate level
• Work alongside the Manager to provide internal training, coaching and monitoring of team members
• Build and promote a positive ongoing business relationship with our Key Brokers, 3^rd Party Providers and internal stakeholders
• Assist in the allocation of new residential applications, incoming post, Dip and pre-submission referrals, along with post offer tasks
• Proactively manage an assigned pipeline of applications from receipt to offer, within set service standards and in line with key performance indicators
• In the absence of the Underwriting Manager, complete people management activity within the team, including monthly 1 to 1’s, performance monitoring and objective reviews
• Conduct regular first line quality checks and feedback results.
• Adhere to internal underwriting policy and regulatory requirements – FCA, PRA, Money Laundering, Prevention of Financial Crime, Data Protection etc.
• Identify opportunities and proactively make recommendations for continuous improvement
• Undertake project and ad-hoc pieces of work at management request

Skills and Experience sought:

 Essential Experience

• Previous underwriting, credit or lending exposure within a first or second mortgage environment
• Strong understanding of the regulatory environment
• Managing and prioritising work for a team of people
• Liaising with Introducers and/or external customers
• Currently holds a lending mandate

Desirable Experience

• Previous Management, Team Leader or Supervisory experience
• CeMap qualified, or part qualified
